After retirement, he decided to write books. Jimmy served nine years in the Army and worked thirty-four years in law-enforcement as a police officer in Nashville, Spring Hope, Enfield and Chief of Police in Sharpsburg. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Cedric ‘Pete’ Winstead, Richard Winstead, Cecil Winstead, Hugh Winstead and Don Winstead.

Jimmy was born Novemto the late Raymond and Minnie G. Winstead, 74 of Spring Hope, North Carolina, passed away Friday October 19, 2018.
